Janet Tanchez was born in San Francisco and has lived in Marin her whole life.  Her parents were born in Guatemala and immigrated to California in the late 80’s.   Janet is one of 7 siblings, but grew up mainly with her two brothers.

Janet attended Davidson Middle School and is a proud graduate of San Rafael High School – go Dawgs!  Janet is a graduate of Sonoma State University, with a B.S. in Business Management.  Throughout high school she worked as a Peer Resource Counselor and Supervisor at the MYC youth center.  Serendipitously, as that job ended, Janet came across the front desk post for a job at the Rafael Racquet Club.  She was the first one hired for the club’s new front desk and worked their for a year before being promoted to Assistant Manager; a position she has held since 2013.

Janet lives with her partner Luis, and their beautiful three-year-old boy.  They are having a blast watching the little one grow up into a curious and adventurous child, much like his parents.

When she’s not working full time, going to school, or spending time with her family, Janet can be found playing soccer -her lifelong passion- on the Marin Women’s Soccer League.   In service to her community, Janet serves as a member of the Pickleweed Advisory Board.
